Fall Season Play-Up Policy (School-Year Transition)
With AYSO’s move from birth-year to school-year divisions, players will be placed in their grade-based division by default to support development, peer connection, and overall experience.
Play-Up Requests
Players may request to play up one division if:
- The request is submitted during registration
- The player demonstrates readiness for the higher level of play
- Space is available and team balance is maintained
- A parent or guardian commits to coaching the team (head or assistant)
Review Process
All requests are reviewed by Region leadership. Approval is not guaranteed and will be based on what is best for both the player and the program.
Additional Guidelines
- No requests to play up more than one division
- Approved players are expected to remain in that division for the full season
- Decisions prioritize player safety, development, and balanced teams
