Scope
Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Swallows Classic tournament.
These are not the official tournament rules . Official rules are included in the downloadable packet linked below.
Tournament divisions for the Swallows Classic AYSO Invitational
Applications accepted from AYSO boys and girl’s teams in the following age divisions
- 16-U Division
- 11 v. 11
- maximum 18 players on roster
- 60 minutes
- $675 per team
- 14-U Division
- 11 v. 11
- maximum 15 players on roster
- 50 minutes
- $625 per team
- 12-U Division
- 9 v. 9
- 50 minutes
- maximum 12 players on roster
- $575 per team
- 10-U Division
- 7 v. 7
- 50 minutes
- maximum 10 players on roster
- $550 per team
Who
All players must be currently registered and have played in the AYSO 2025 primary season.
Guest players will be allowed (3 maximum per team).
What:
Pool play tournament. Each team will be guaranteed 3 games in pool play.
The top teams will advance to the medal round on Sunday afternoon.
Where:
San Juan Capistrano Sports Park / Marco Forster Intermediate School
in San Juan Capistrano, California.
No pets are allowed on fields.
Why
Proceeds from The Swallows Classic fund scholarships, regional costs, and field development for AYSO Region 87.
Awards
All players on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place teams will receive a trophy or medal.
Team Application Fee Refunds
- A full refund will be issued if the tournament is canceled and cannot be rescheduled.
- If a team withdraws on or before June 1, 2026, a full refund is given.
- After June 1st, 2026, no refunds unless a replacement team is found.
Referee and Referee Deposit Requirements
In order to keep tournament application fees as low as possible:
- Each team is expected to provide currently qualified AYSO referees to cover nine (9) referee, assistant referee, and standby positions during the tournament. (a limited number of standby positions are available to referees at or above the AYSO Intermediate level)
- Each team will provide a refundable referee deposit is $350 to encourage referee participation.
For teams successfully meeting referee assignment requirements, referee deposits will be refunded within 14 days of completion of tournament.
Acceptance
The application deadline is June 1, 2026.
IMPORTANT: Our tournament quickly fills up so enter ASAP.
- All teams will be notified as to their acceptance status.
- Teams that are not accepted may be given the option to be placed on the waiting list.
How
All required forms must be fully completed and submitted together as part of the application packet prior to review.

- Once your completed application packet has been reviewed and approved, a preliminary acceptance will be issued as brackets and divisions are filled.
- Checks must be mailed with the completed application packet to the address listed on the application.
- For official acceptance, successful payment is required.
