2017 AYSO Region 87 Basic Referee Training

REGION 87 REFEREE TRAINING 2019

In Region Training

Regional Referee Companion Course Training,  8/22, 8/29, and 9/13 5:00 - 9:00 pm (10 Seat) available.

Course Training will be at our Director of Referee Instruction Rick Fleming's house. Prospective attendees must contact Rick directly prior to 9/21/17 at refscheduler@msn.com or (949) 678-5577.

If interested you must become a register volunteer in BlueSombrero. Have taken the on-line Regional Referee course in (AYSOU) which you will use your Blue Sombrero (User ID and Password) for access. This is a requirement prior to taking the face to face Companion Course. Before referee training is complete the  On-Line Safe Haven and On-Line CDC Concussion Awareness courses must also be completed. These can be done after the face to face course. See below for instructions on volunteering in BlueSombrero and On-line courses.

Volunteering & On-line Courses!

This is a companion course to the on-line training that can be done on your own time frame.  The course will include checking for learning, question/answer/comment, some field work for signals and basic referee mechanics, and the test.  Attendees that have not taken the prerequisite on-line training will not be admitted.

Our goal is for it to be fun and rewarding work.  What you do is so important to AYSO Soccer!

FAIR, SAFE AND FUN:

Step by step instructions:

To take any AYSO Region 87 REFEREE TRAINING (companion courses on 8/22 or 8/29)

You will need a Blue Sombrero account (BSB) if you plan to coach or referee in the upcoming Region 87 Soccer Season, and you must ANNUALLY REGISTER as a Volunteer in Blue Sombrero.

If you have problems creating a volunteer account

Blue Sombrero  Support Line - 866.264.2048              AYSOU Help – 800.872.2976

Once you have a valid Blue Sombrero account there are 3 online courses in addition to the in-person training event (about 4 hours) that are required.

Please contact Mike Finelt ref@ayso87.org or Rick Fleming refscheduler@msn.com to confirm training dates, times and locations (as these are subject to change).  PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

We have scheduled in-person Companion Course classes for 8/22 and another on 8/29.  These classes are from 5-9 pm at the San Juan Community Center.

  • YOU MUST E-MAIL RICK FLEMING THAT YOU PLAN TO ATTEND (class size is limited) AND YOU MUST COMPLETE THE Online Regional Referee Course PRIOR TO THE in person COMPANION COURSE.

Additional in-person Companion Courses can possibly be arranged. As these classes are limited to 3 to 10 trainees, YOU MUST arrange directly with Rick Fleming refscheduler@msn.com 949/678-5577 to confirm and get my address for one of these classes at my house. Tentative dates are Friday 9/13 from 5 to 9 pm and another on Saturday 9/14 from 1 to 5 pm.

In preparation for the in-person training and as a pre-requisite, there are a few things our volunteers need to do online in advance. To start, if you haven't registered as a volunteer in our Blue Sombrero registration system (where you registered your kids to play) we need to start there and get you registered as a REFEREE volunteer.

HOW DO I DO THE ONLINE TRAINING?

Using your Blue Sombrero page, select ‘HOME’ from your profile picture (to the right); then select ‘AYSOU’.  Log in using your same Blue Sombrero log-in (it may auto log-in for you).

From your home page (this one is in AYSOU) Select OnLine COURSES and take the course called Regional Referee Training Course that you need to complete. This course is listed near the bottom of a dozen or so courses offered.

‘OPEN’ the course and “LAUNCH”. You can return later to complete a module/course at your convenience. You should print your completion certificate.

The above course needs to be completed prior to the face to face ‘Companion Course’, and the below 2 courses will be required to be completed before you can become an AYSO referee.

Youwill need BOTH the CDC: CONCUSSION COURSE and AYSO’s SAFE HAVEN courses under the OnLine COURSES.   Again select “OPEN” for the course that you desire, then select “LAUNCH” for each module.

The FINAL piece for the training is the in-person training… see above or contact Rick Fleming.

ALL 3 ON-LINE COURSES AND THE FACE TO FACE COURSE ARE REQUIRED TO BECOME AN AYSO REFEREE.
